Adelaide Birth Photographer | Women's and Children's Hospital | VBAC
Tania is an incredible woman! An empowered, accomplished Mother who lives in rural Victoria. She reached out to me during her pregnancy for baby #6, as she was birthing at the Women's and Children's Hospital in Adelaide. This birth would be 3VBAC2 - her first CS was twins, just in case the numbers confused you there!
The challenges Tania and her husband, Brian, faced in coordinating the time around her EDD, were quite the ordeal. But being pragmatic, country folk, they took it all in their stride. With half the family left at home on the farm with Brian, to help keep business running, Tania bundled the youngest 3 up with her and headed to an apartment in North Adelaide, to wait it out for labour to start. We met for a cuppa when she first came down - it was so good to connect with her in these final stages of pregnancy.
Every pregnancy, labour, birth, has it's challenges and variations. You can do your best to plan, but at the end of the day, you just have to have the confidence and resolve to know you've prepared yourself as best you can. The best preparation I know of is to look at any aspect of the path ahead that feels challenging, and work through it so it no longer holds fear for you. It's a common way forward for women seeking a VBAC. Tania was well and truly prepared, as she had been each birth before.
It was the morning of the 12th of February, when I got the call, just before peak hour. It was a quick drive in, and the ultimate time to shoot. Brian was there, it all worked out perfectly. Tania had the wonderfully supported labour she had envisaged, and I was honoured to be there to capture it for her. It was a very joyful arrival of Thomas, and he will forever be a witness to the love his parents had for him as he entered the world, and the day the hearts of his siblings grew with the very sight of him.
